RE: Mount Manresa – Staten Island – Please come and see for yourself
Dear Mayor de Blasio:
Mount Manresa in Staten Island is a much needed ready-made 15 acre park and precious greenspace in an already overdeveloped and overburdened community. It is also a very rare historical and environmental treasure.
Today, Mount Manresa is at risk of being destroyed by Savo Brothers, who despite our Borough President Oddo’s objection and the objection of thousands of Staten Islanders, plans to bulldoze and destroy it for 250 townhouses. The impact on our sewer systems, our school system, on traffic, and on the health and quality of life of the community and of all Staten Island residents would be immeasurable.
I ask you to please prevent the destruction of the environment and old growth trees, of greenspace and historical structures – all which have been here for hundreds of years –that are vital to the community’s health and welfare.
Mayor di Blasio, PLEASE come see Mount Manresa for yourself.
See why we are fighting so hard to make it a park and community center for the public. Once it is gone, it is gone forever.
