Subject: Media Alert: Community Action for Verizon Workers – Thursday May 6 from 5-7pm
STATEN ISLAND – On Thursday May 5, 2016 the The Committee to Save Manresa members will join CWA Local 1102 from 5-7 pm at Verizon (2791 Richmond Ave, Staten Island, NY) for a organized community day of action.
“The value of salaries, benefits and work conditions must be maintained for the workers. They provide the many complex technical services enabling the company to survive and remain competitive. Any attempt to diminish these dedicated union workers rights and benefits adversely affects our society in the long run. Verizon is very competitive and profitable so why hurt your workers for more profit?” explains Bolembach.
“The Committee to Save Mount Manresa has been fighting quality of life issues on Staten Island for over 3 years!” says Committee Secretary Barbara Sanchez.
The Committee to Save Mount Manresa encourages other Staten Island community organizations will join this event, or adopt another Verizon store and sponsor their own day of action through the local union CWA office.
“We know what it is like to fight corporate greed. The Savo Brothers exposed our community to asbestos for greed, they destroyed beautiful historical old growth trees for greed and they plan to destroy an entire neighborhood with 250 townhouses for greed. “
